Flinders Ports operates seven ports across South Australia ... Port Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Klein Point, Port Giles, Thevenard and Wallaroo.

We continue to expand our port facilities, including the development of Port Adelaide as a major bulk cargo handling facility for Southern Australia. Flinders Ports has identified the need to assist the development and growth of the resource sector and is planning to develop Berth 29 inner harbor Port Adelaide to cater for this trade.

The 1st stage of the Berth 29 Master Plan has been the construction of a mobile bulk loader capable of loading a range of bulk products in vessels up to panamax size.

The mobile bulk loader is one of a number of strategies in place to allow South Australian ports to meet the demands of the bulk importing and exporting community.

The channel into Outer Harbor at Port Adelaide has been deepened to a depth of 14.2 metres and we will shortly commence an extension to the container terminal berth by 150 metres, providing 660m of quayline.

Flinders Ports has played a significant role in maintaining the long term future and viability of the South Australian grain industry. The ports of Wallaroo and Port Giles have been upgraded and a new deepwater grain berth has been developed at Port Adelaide. South Australia now has a total of seven grain ports, five of which can berth panamax sized bulk carriers, three can handle fully laden panamax vessels and two facilities can load small capesize ships.

With an extensive road and rail network servicing a catchment area extending across South Australia to southern New South Wales and western Victoria, Flinders Ports can offer a vast range of receival, storage and transport options.

These road and rail networks in Adelaide will be improved following the completion of the Port River Expressway. The Expressway will provide new road and rail connections across the Port River, linking the State’s industrial areas and transport and distribution facilities at the Port of Adelaide. South Australian importers and exporters will benefit from this modern infrastructure.

As a landside infrastructure owner and operator, Flinders Ports is committed to improving and developing port infrastructure.

In keeping with this commitment, Flinders Ports, in conjunction with the Hardy Wine Company developed a 20,000sqm storage and distribution warehouse adjacent to the container terminal at Outer Harbor. This warehouse is the first of what will be a number of similar developments at Outer Harbor to cater for the continued growth and expansion of export markets for South Australian industry. It also demonstrates our commitment to consolidate Port Adelaide’s Outer Harbor as the central hub for the South Australian import and export container trade.

Flinders Ports ...... Forward Thinking Now.
