How long does the online induction take?
Approximately 1 hour. At the completion of the induction, you must contact Flinders Ports on 8447 0600 to make a time to have your photograph taken and your access card created.
What if I have a visitor with me?
Flinders Ports approved card holders are allowed to take visitors on to the port premises, however they must notify Flinders Ports prior to doing so. Please contact 08 8447 0600. All visitors must be escorted.
Can I get access if I am a valid card holder, but can not locate my card while waiting at the gate?
No. No Access Card, no access.
Do I have to pay for the card?
Yes. A fee of $50 is payable to obtain an access card. The card is valid for 2 years. If you lose the card, then there is a $50 fee payable to obtain a replacement card.
What do I have to do if I lose my card?
Report it ASAP to Flinders Ports and the card will be cancelled. An application for a replacement card must then be submitted. A fee of $50 will be charged for a replacement card.
I have completed the Online induction. Where do I go to get my photograph taken? Once you have completed the Online Induction, you are then required to contact Flinders Ports during office hours on 08 8447 0600 to make a time to have your photograph taken and your access card created. You can also visit your local Flinders Ports office to have your photograph taken, however your photo will be sent to the Port Adelaide office for your card to be created. Your card will then be posted to you.
In Port Adelaide, photographs will be taken between 10am - 11am on Tuesday and Thursday at Flinders Ports, Level 1, 296 St Vincent Street, Port Adelaide. Bookings must be made prior to attending.
In Regional Ports, a booking must be made with your local Regional Ports office prior to attending.
For Regional Ports, you attend the session at your local Flinders Ports office.
Will the Access Card allow me to enter all berths in Port Adelaide?
No, your Access Card will only provide access to those berths that were requested and approved on your application.
What happens if I don't have a security card and need access?
You need to apply to Flinders Ports for an access card. Application forms are available on our website. NO induction, NO card, NO access.
What happens if I am a truck driver and have been sub contracted for a one off job, do I need an access card?
Yes. All persons accessing the port at any time for any period must have a Flinders Ports access card, and must have completed the Flinders Ports Online Induction.
How are access requirements under Security Level 1 different to Level 2 and Level 3?
Level 1 is electronic access through your Flinders Ports access card. At Level 2 and Level 3 the gates will be manned and all port users will need produce and display their photographic id card at all times while on the port premises. At Level 2 and Level 3, random searches could be carried out.
What time is Flinders Ports open for business to take photographs and issue access cards?
Photographs will be taken between 10am - 11am on Tuesday and Thursday. Photographs will only be taken for those people who have completed the Online Induction. Access cards will then be issued. Port users will need to contact Flinders Ports during working hours if they need to take a visitor on site. All visitors must be escorted.
Are ships crew allowed to leave their ship and what will they require?
The Captain of each vessel will be accountable for the access cards. The Captain will be given a set of cards by the Flinders Ports Pilot upon their arrival to the port and will be required to keep a register of who the cards are given to.
Upon the vessels departure, the Captain will give the access cards and the register to the Flinders Ports Pilot. If any cards are not returned, then the vessel will be charged $50 for each lost/stolen card.
What will ships crew require when changing crew?
Change of crew will be carried out through the ships agent. The agent will organise entry into the port.
How will a police vehicle access the wharf if they are called to remove someone who does not have a pass?
The police will be let onto the premises by the Signal Station. The Signal station is manned 24 hrs and all request for emergency services must go through the signal station.
If there is more than one person entering the site in one vehicle and all have an access card, does everyone need to swipe their card?
Yes.
Will my access card allow me access through all electronic gates?
No. your card will only allow you through the gates that you nominated on your application form
